The West Broadway Transit Study will conduct a collaborative planning process to identify and evaluate potential transit improvements along Washington Avenue and West Broadway Avenue in north Minneapolis and Robbinsdale, including evaluation of potential connections to the planned METRO Blue Line Extension (Bottineau LRT). The study will also evaluate the corridor’s market potential for transit-oriented development (TOD). The intended outcome of the study is a recommended locally preferred alternative (LPA) for transit service improvements in the corridor.
The modes to be evaluated in the study include street car and bus network enhancements including bus rapid transit (BRT).
The West Broadway Transit Study will move through four stages:
- Identifying transportation problems in the corridor and identifying study goals
- Defining alternatives at a conceptual level
- Evaluating alternatives results and methodology
- Delivering a final transit study report along with a recommended locally preferred alternative (LPA) for transit service improvements in the corridor.
The study is expected to be completed by late 2015
Please consider attending the open house on May 21, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at North Community YMCA, 1711 W Broadway Avenue.
